University of Illinois European Union Center, Course Development Grant Competition
DEADLINE: JUNE 8, 2007
The Illinois European Union Center has funds included in its U.S. Department of Education Title VI grant to award one course development grant for the AY 2007-08. The grant will be offered on a competitive basis in the amount of $6,500 before taxes plus fringe benefits. These funds may be used towards a Summer Session Faculty Payment for concentrated work on curriculum development or to support the salary of a Graduate Research Assistant. The Center especially welcomes applications from the professional schools or topics falling into these six categories:

  1. EU enlargement
  2. the transatlantic relationship
  3. business, finance, and economics in the EU, including the EURO-zone
  4. law and constitutional development in the EU, including the EU constitutional treaty
  5. EU agro-environmental policies, including the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)
  6. the human dimension in the EU, including immigration, minorities, gender, and cultural identity

University of Illinois European Union Center, Faculty Research Grant Competition
DEADLINE: JUNE 8, 2007
The University of Illinois European Union Center is pleased to offer one Faculty Research Grant for the 2007-08 Academic Year. The grant will be offered on a competitive basis in the amount of $14,000 before taxes plus fringe benefits towards the salary of a UIUC Graduate Research Assistant. Funds MUST be used by 14 August 2008.

The main objective of this grant is to support research proposals in EU studies that meet the highest standards of excellence and contribute significantly to the advancement of EU studies at Illinois. Preferences will be given to applications from the professional schools or topics on EU issues of special relevance and timeliness, including EU enlargement; the transatlantic relationship; EU security and foreign policy; law and comparative constitutional development; business, finance, and economics; agro-environmental policies; immigration; minorities; civil society; gender; cultural identity, and others. This position will provide advising support to international students on matters related to immigration and visa regulations, and acclimation to the university and community environments.  The position serves as liaison to a variety of federal and sponsoring agencies and University units to disseminate information on federal regulations on matters related to international students.
